What In the Mommy Trenches is About
Primarily, my blog is about me, my family and our struggles on this journey called life. At one point in my life it was my only outlet and there was a fair amount of whining going on. Since then I like to think that I've grown, although I can't guarantee absolutely no whiny posts ever, and nowadays I enjoy connecting with other moms. If I know something that might help other moms like me, I will share it. If I come across a particularly great or fun product, I will review it regardless of whether it's "sponsored" or not.
As well, my oldest daughter was officially diagnosed with Autism in 2013 at the age of 10. This has been a difficult journey for our family and is sometimes partly responsible for the periods of silence on this blog. While I do share a lot about our lives, my daughter hasn't accepted who she is with her autism and it's not fair for me to put all our struggles online.
The other main reason for the long period of silence was the sudden passing of my mother in July 2013. For a long time the sun had disappeared along with my sense of humour. While we cope with her passing, I can still say there are days where we all miss her something fierce. It was not something I could really write about and I knew my father would not wish me to.
In the Mommy Trenches is definitely not a niche blog but an eclectic one. On my blog you will find anything from a legal argument in Wife vs. Husband to Kid Approved Recipes to Easy Peasie Ghostie crafts.
The Story Behind Zeemaid
I am mostly an anonymous blogger. I have been more open recently about my blog with friends and family but sometimes I do still struggle with the thought of people I know reading my posts. Something personal of me goes into my writing and while I may not mind sharing my inner thoughts and strange ponderations with you all, I am reluctant to for those that personally know me to have access to them. More often than not my blog was the place I turned to when things aren't going all that well and well, I guess it's like my own little secret garden.My pseudonym, Zeemaid, stems from an earlier (pre children) addiction to SIMS. After I googled all the cheats and made my characters all fabulously wealthy, I created a maid character to clean up after the little slobs. Of course, I dressed her in a French maid uniform, adopted a French accent and called her Zee Maid. How appropriate for these days of being a SAHM where most days I do indeed feel like Zee Maid around here.
